Dancing with Death

Let’s go to the club tonight! Let’s hit the streets tonight! Let’s party on the weekend! The latest club is opening tonight and I heard you could score it for free! Do you have some drop? I’ll give you a tablet in exchange for a kiss.

These are only some familiar lines that we normally hear in the new generation of teenagers who think partying is all about getting drugged and drunk all weekend. A sad reality that parents of today do not even know the extent of drug abuse that their children are doing. I for one hand am scared of the future of my children because there is no telling what they would be exposed to. All I can bank on is how well I raise them with my wife some day.

One of the most commonly used drugs among teenagers is ecstasy. Obviously, at blank point it is illegal. It is classified as a Schedule I drug that has no recognized medical use. There are respective penalties for all sorts of involvement with ecstasy. From possessing, delivering, and manufacturing ecstasy you could be jailed a minimum of four years and even given a life sentence depending on the amount of drug carried with you. In the States, you could be fined $250,000 to $4 million for just simply carrying this illegal drug. Think to yourself that you can be wasting your life away by just a mere piece of drug that with the right amount of will power you can choose to avoid experiencing this tragedy. And being extra careful is not an excuse to freely take this drug on a regular basis because you would never know when you would get caught red-handed.

An astounding estimate of over 9 million users worldwide that consists of teenagers and young adults abuse ecstasy. It’s the new tic-tac!

This is one thing I am certain of that those who rave and party in clubs do not take ecstasy alone but mix it with alcohol. This new form of drug combination can be lethal and I won’t be surprised when majority of the people being brought to the hospital are teenagers and young adults who have overdosed themselves.

In the States, an increase of 1,200% patients have been going in and out of hospitals ever since ecstasy became the new club-drug.

Imagine if everyone in the world who is going through depression or suicidal thoughts could just pop a tablet. Just like US comfort women who has been battling with the consequences of what the past has brought to them.
